New Delhi: Amid the ongoing squabble in Punjab Congress, disgruntled leader Navjot Singh Sidhu will meet Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra in New Delhi today. The leader left for Delhi on Monday, and is expected to hold one-on-one interaction with the Gandhis from 11 am onwards.
Lately Sidhu has been targeting the Chief Minister over delay in justice in sacrilege cases and other unkept promises, which has led to factionalism within Congress in Punjab. Navjot Sidhu's meeting with Gandhi family amid such a situation is being considered as an important step towards bridging the gap between the party ahead of the 2022 Punjab Assembly elections.

The meeting has come just a few days after three-member committee was formed in the state just a few days ago to deal with the uproar. The Congress panel formed to resolve factionalism in the Punjab unit submitted its report to the party's interim president Sonia Gandhi on June 10.
The panel has not recommended the removal of the chief minister. The committee had made it clear that Captain Amarinder would remain the CM of the state and is likely to lead the party in the next election.
While Gandhis on one hand seem to be backing Sidhu, CM Amarinder Singh on the other hand has already made it clear that Navjot Singh Sidhu would neither be acceptable as deputy chief minister nor as the Pradesh Congress Committee chief.
In a separate development, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convener Arvind Kejriwal is scheduled to visit Chandigarh today. He intends to announce that if his party comes to power, the government will give "free electricity" to the people. AAP has planned to hold a press conference at Punjab Bhawan. Yesterday, the party accused the Congress-led Punjab government of not allowing Kejriwal to hold a press conference in the state.
