Pulwama blast shatters window panes, cracks wall of local mosque & houses

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said those responsible for the Pulwama attack will pay "a very heavy price" and security forces will be given a free hand to deal with terrorists.

Srinagar (J&K): The carnage carried out by Jaish-E-Mohammed on Thursday saw window panes of a local mosque and some houses 300 meters away from the attack site being shattered. The blasts were so powerful that many houses in Letpora village of Pulwama district also bore cracks on its exterior walls. “There was a loud explosion following which we saw plumes of smoke and flames into the air. The window panes cracked because of the attack yesterday,” a local told ABP News. Reports also say the explosion was so huge that its sound was heard 10 km away. The suicide bomber who rammed his car into a bus that was part of a CRPF convoy at Lethpora village of Pulwama district was identified by the Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammad militant group as Adil Ahmad Dar. The SUV he was driving carrying explosives weighing nearly 200 kgs and the bus had 39 jawans on board all of whom are feared to be dead. He ploughed the vehicle towards the convoy of 78 CRPF buses transporting over 2,500 personnel from Jammu to Srinagar on the highway. Sources say Jaish wanted to inflict maximum casualties; hence it attacked the CRPF convoy instead of Army which comparatively carries lesser personnel. Agency reports say the movement of security forces convoys has been halted in the Kashmir valley today in wake of the yesterday’s terror attack. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said those responsible for the Pulwama attack will pay "a very heavy price" and security forces will be given a free hand to deal with terrorists. He said the "blood of the people is boiling" and forces behind the act of terrorism will definitely be punished.
