Priyanka Gandhi Writes To PM Modi, Urges Repatriation Of Rajasthan Man's Mortal Remains Who Died In Russia
Priyanka Gandhi has written a letter to PM Narendra Modi demanding that the dead body of Hitendra Garasiya, a resident of Udaipur, be repatriated from Russia.
Priyanka Gandhi Letter to PM Narendra Modi: Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra has written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi requesting him to facilitate the repatriation of the dead body of a tribal man from Rajasthan back to the country. The man died in Russia last year.
She said that a daughter wants to see her father one last time. The Congress general secretary also shared a copy of her letter to the PM on January 27 on her official Twitter handle. She also posted a picture with the daughter of Hitendra Garasiya, a tribal man from Godwa village in the Udaipur district of Rajasthan.
No Action Taken Yet
Priyanka Gandhi, in her letter, said that the family members of Garasiya are demanding that his dead body be brought to India so that the last rites can be performed and a dignified farewell can be given to him.

He died in Russia on July 17, 2021. She said, "The daughter of the late Hitendra Garasiya mustered the courage to plead with your (Prime Minister's) office in this regard. She wants to see her father for the last time, but so far no action has been taken in the matter." Priyanka has requested PM Modi to take cognizance of the issue.
Family Of The Deceased
Garasiya's wife Asha Devi, daughter Urvashi and son Piyush, along with Congress leader from Bundi, Charmesh Sharma, met Gandhi in her office in Delhi earlier this week. According to Sharma, she assured Garasiya's family that she would take care of them in the future. Congress secretary and former MLA from Jahazpur in Rajasthan, Dheeraj Gurjar was also present during the meeting.
Garasiya Was Found Dead In Moscow
Garasiya had traveled to Russia in April last year on a one-year 'work visa' but was reportedly found dead in a park in Moscow. Moscow police closed the case, calling it an accidental death, and the body was later buried in Moscow. Garasiya's family received information about his death from the local police on August 28 last year. Since then, his family has been trying to bring back the body. The family had also approached the Rajasthan High Court in December last year.
