New Delhi: President Ram Nath Kovind on Thursday embarked on a two-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir. This year, President Kovind will celebrate the festival of Dussera with the Indian troops in Drass, one of the coldest inhabited lands across the world where temperature moves down to less than -40°C.


In this regard, the Rashtrapati Bhavan on Wednesday had issued an official statement saying that President Kovind will be visiting J-K for a two-day visit on October 14, and 15, 2021.

As per the statement, President Kovind will be performing Sindhu Darshan Puja at Sindhu Ghat in Leh on October 14, 2021. In the evening, it is expected that President Kovind will move to the Udhampur district and interacts with military personnel stationed there.

On the next day, President Kovind will pay tribute to the martyrs of the 1999 Kargil War at the Kargil War Memorial in Drass and also interact with officers and jawans stationed there.

Dussera is scheduled to be celebrated on Friday, October 15, 2021.
