New Delhi: Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was admitted to the All India Institute Of Medical Science (AIIMS) in the national capital after he complained of fever.
Meanwhile, the Congress party has said it to be a routine treatment and has also stated that Singh’s condition was stable.
“There are some unsubstantiated rumours with regards to former PM, Dr Manmohan Singh ji’s health. His condition is stable. He is undergoing routine treatment. We will share any updates as needed. We thank our friends in media for their concern," Congress leader Pranav Jha said on Twitter.
Manmohan Singh, who was India's PM from 2004 to 2014, was infected with COVID-19 earlier this year. He was admitted to AIIMS Trauma Centre on April 19 after testing positive for Coronavirus.
However, the veteran politician was then discharged from there on April 29. In terms of his medical condition, the 88-year-old Congress leader suffers from diabetes and has also undergone two bypass surgeries, one in the UK in 1990 and the other one at AIIMS Delhi in 2009.
Singh was also hospitalised in May last year, due to fever.
Recently, the Congress party has announced Singh as the head of a party committee on celebrating 75 years of Independence. The announcement was made by Congress interim President Sonia Gandhi who said that the committee will plan and coordinate the one-year-long celebration of 75th anniversary of Independence.
