President Murmu Offers Prayers At Tara Devi, Sankat Mochan Temples In Himachal Pradesh

New Delhi: President Droupadi Murmu, who is on a five-day visit to Himachal Pradesh, performed puja at the famous Tara Devi temple and Sankat Mochan temple here on Tuesday. Accompanied by members of her family and Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla, President Murmu paid homage at the Tara Devi temple, situated atop commanding heights overlooking Shimla. Notably, she has become the first president of India to partake in the langar (bhandara) at the temple.
During her visit to the temples, President Murmu was honoured by the temple committees with tokens of appreciation, reported PTI.

At the Sankat Mochan temple, she showed a keen interest in its historical significance and was presented with an idol of 'Ram Darbar' by Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla, accompanied by a briefing on the temple's history.

Despite typically being bustling hubs on Tuesdays and Sundays, entry to the temples was restricted during President Murmu's visit. The president greeted the people while taking a stroll on The Mall and later attended a cultural programme at the Gaiety Theatre. She will leave for Delhi on Wednesday.
Himachal Mahila Congress Activists Demand Prajwal Revanna Be Brought Back To India
Himachal Mahila Congress activists submitted a memorandum to President Murmu while she was taking a stroll on the busy Mall Road.
The Congress activists conveyed their concern regarding the escalating incidents of crimes against women, highlighting their demand for justice in specific cases. They demanded that the alleged mass rapist, Hassan MP Prajwal Revanna, be brought back to India and handed over to Karnataka police.
Notably, JD(S) MLA H D Revanna and his son Prajawal are embroiled in legal issues, with allegations of molesting their cook and involvement in a kidnapping case where the victim was allegedly sexually assaulted by Prajwal. A case of rape has also been registered against Prajwal, as per PTI.
