Prashant Kishor makes political debut, joins Nitish Kumar-led JDU as full time politician; Details here

Kishor is likely to take up responsibility of finalising JDU’s seat-sharing agreement with the BJP.

Political strategist Prashant Kishor on Sunday joined the Janata Dal United (JDU) at a state executive meeting. Kishor joined the party in the presence of JDU chief and Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar in Patna. It is said that he is likely to get number 2 position in the party. Kishor, who is also the founder of Indian Political Action committee (I-Pac), is likely to take up responsibility of finalising JDU’s seat-sharing agreement with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Bihar. According to reports, the party is also planning to offer him ticket to contest Lok Sabha elections 2019. Kishor parted ways with the BJP after 2014 general elections and is credited for combining all opposition parties together in Bihar to bring a massive victory of JDU, RJD and Congress combine in 2015. On September 10, Kishor announced his retirement from election campaigning for political parties. Watch video- 5 important factors about Prashant Kishore and his journey so far: 1. Born in 1977 in Buxar district of Bihar, Prashant Kishore completed his engineering from Hyderabad. His father Srikant Pandey is a doctor from the profession and has also been a Medical Superintendent in Buxar. 2. After completing his education, joined a job in UNICEF and took charge of branding. After working with UNICEF, Koshor returned to India in 2011 and completed Gujarat’s famous event called ‘Vibrant Gujarat’. A public health expert of the United Nations, Kishor started making headlines after crafting the campaign of Narendra Modi for the 2014 Lok Sabha elections. 3. It is also said that Prashant was the brain behind two important campaigns in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, ‘Chaai Par Charcha‘ and ‘3-D Narendra Modi’. Both campaigns were very successful and the BJP reached to central power. 4. Days before joining the BJP, Kishor said, "For two years, I have been wanting to get out of this domain. It could have been post the Uttar Pradesh poll results, but the failure put the decision on hold. In 2019, you will not see PK campaigning for any party or individual.”Even when asked about his future plans, he had said,“I will do something that connects me to the grassroots. I am going to either Gujarat or Bihar.” 5. The news of him joining the JDU started making rounds a week after he interacted with the students of Indian School of Business (ISB) in Hyderabad earlier this month. Kishor is currently working for the YSR Congress party in Andhra Pradesh. Before shifting to the south, Kishor worked for the Congress party during the Punjab and Uttar Pradesh elections last year.
