Pranab Mukherjee Death: Former Indian President Pranab Mukherjee took his last breath on Monday at the age of 84, leaving an irreparable void in India's political landscape. He had been in coma since a brain surgery earlier this month. Prime Minister Narendra Modi condoled the demise of the former President and said " India grieves the passing away of Bharat Ratna Shri Pranab Mukherjee. He has left an indelible mark on the development trajectory of our nation. A scholar par excellence, a towering statesman, he was admired across the political spectrum and by all sections of society."

Expressing grief at the loss, President Ram Nath Kovind, who succeeded Pranab Da as India's President in 2017, wrote on Twitter: "Sad to hear that former President Shri Pranab Mukherjee is no more. His demise is passing of an era. A colossus in public life, he served Mother India with the spirit of a sage. The nation mourns losing one of its worthiest sons. Condolences to his family, friends & all citizens."

State Govt Offices in West Bengal to Remain Closed Tomorrow
All state government offices in West Bengal will remain closed on Tuesday as a mark of respect to former President Pranab Mukherjee who died in New Delhi, the state Home Department said here. If his funeral does not take place on Tuesday, the offices will also remain closed on the day when it will happen, the department said on Monday.
