BJP Workers Recite Hanuman Chalisa In Hyderabad Against Congress's 'Bajrang Dal' Ban Promise, Detained

Police detained Bharatiya Janta Party workers outside the Congress party office in Hyderabad, who were assembled there to recite Hunaman Chalisa.

Karnataka Elections 2023: Police detained Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers and leaders on Friday outside the Congress party office in Hyderabad, who were assembled there to recite Hunaman Chalisa. They were protesting over the ongoing controversy on the Congress manifesto which said it will ban the Bajrang Dal if voted to power in Karnataka. In a video shared by news agency ANI, BJP members were seen shouting verses from the Hanuman Chalisa. This comes after the Congress party on Tuesday (April 2) promised in its manifesto that it was committed to taking firm and decisive action against people and organisations involved in spreading hatred on the basis of caste and religion.

Earlier on Thursday also, members of the Bajrang Dal created a ruckus and engaged in vandalism at the Congress office in Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh to protest against the party after they promised a state-wide ban on Bajrang Dal if voted to power.

In a video shared by news agency ANI, members of the ring-wing outfit could be seen engaging in vandalism and creating commotion inside the party office in Jabalpur.

Such incidents of ruckus have been taking place across many parts of the country after the Congress party said in its manifesto, "We believe that law and Constitution is sacrosanct and cannot be violated by individuals and organisations like Bajrang Dal, PFI or others promoting enmity or hatred, whether among majority or minority communities. We will take decisive action as per law including imposing a ban on such organisations."

After the party president Mallikarjun Kharge released the manifesto, Bajrang Dal said it will organise recitals of 'Hanuman Chalisa' across the state on Thursday.

"This is the time when 'Dharma' is in danger and standing together is the only way forward. We should set aside our differences and come together to protect dharma, and hold hands together," the right-wing organisation said in a statement.

The Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) too extended its support to the call.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during his public meeting at Hospet in Vijayanagara district on Tuesday, too had come down heavily on the Congress promise of banning Bajrang Dal saying: “The Congress in its manifesto has decided to lock up Lord Hanuman. Initially, they locked up Prabhu Shri Ram (Lord Ram). And now they want to lock up people who say 'Jai Bajrang Bali' (Hail Hanuman)."
