PM Modi To Inaugurate Celebrations For 200th Birth Anniversary Of Maharishi Dayanand Saraswati Today

PM Narendra Modi will inaugurate year-long celebrations commemorating the 200th birth anniversary of Maharishi Dayanand Saraswati in Delhi today.

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the year-long celebrations commemorating the 200th birth anniversary of Maharishi Dayanand Saraswati on Sunday. He will also address the gathering at Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium, Delhi on the occasion.

The inaugural event to be held at Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium will commence at 11 AM, as per a statement by the Prime Minister's Office (PMO). 

"Maharishi Dayanand Saraswati, born on February 12, 1824, was a social reformer who founded Arya Samaj in 1875 to counter then-prevalent social inequities.  Arya Samaj has played a key role in the cultural and social awakening of the country by its emphasis on social reforms and education," the PMO statement mentioned.

The release highlighted that the Union government has been committed to celebrating the social reformers and important personalities, "especially those whose contributions were not given their due yet on a pan-India scale." "From declaring the birth anniversary of Bhagwan Birsa Muda as Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas to participating in a programme commemorating Sri Aurobindo’s 150th birth anniversary, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has been leading such initiatives from the front," it added.

Later in the day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will dedicate to the nation the Delhi-Dausa-Lalsot stretch, the first completed section of the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway on Sunday. The 246-kilometre section has been developed at a cost of over Rs 12,150 crore.

At around 3 pm, PM Modi will reach Rajasthan's Dausa to lay the foundation stone and dedicate it to the nation, road development projects worth more than Rs 18,100 crore. The operationalisation of this stretch will reduce the travel time from Delhi to Jaipur from 5 hours to around 3.5 hours and provide a major boost to economic development of the entire region, the PMO stated.

On Monday, at around 9:30 a.m., he will inaugurate the 14th edition of Aero India 2023 at Air Force Station, Yelahanka in Bengaluru.
