PM Modi To Address Event Marking 10th Death Anniversary Of Ex RS MP Harmohan Singh Yadav

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will give a video message on Monday at a gathering honouring former Rajya Sabha Member Harmohan Singh Yadav on the occasion of his tenth death anniversary, according to the sources. The involvement of the prime minister is in honour of the late leader's significant contributions to farmers, the underprivileged, and other facets of society, according to the officials.

Leader of the Yadav community and a towering figure, Harmohan Singh Yadav. For a very long period, he was still politically involved. Sukhram Singh Yadav, his son, was also a member of the Rajya Sabha.

At the age of 31, he entered politics, and in 1952, he was elected local "pradhan." From 1970 through 1990, he held a number of positions, including MLC and MLA in Uttar Pradesh. He was chosen for the first time in 1991 to the Rajya Sabha and participated in a number of parliamentary committees. He received a second nomination to serve in the Rajya Sabha in 1997. Additionally, he held the position of national chairperson for "Akhil Bhartiya Yadav Mahasabha."

Ram Manohar Lohia and Chaudhary Charan Singh were close friends of Harmohan Singh Yadav. He protested for farmer rights and fought the Emergency while being imprisoned.

He was a significant Samajwadi Party figurehead and Mulayam Singh Yadav was a personal friend of his. Harmohan Yadav suggested to the Yadav Mahasabha that Mulayam Singh Yadav take over as their leader following the passing of Chaudhary Charan Singh. Harmohan Yadav and his family relocated to a new area where the majority of the population was Sikh six years prior to the anti-Sikh riots of 1984.

Yadav and his son Sukhram were at home during the 1984 riots. Local Sikhs sought refuge in Yadav's home, and the Yadav family shielded them from attack until the assailants dispersed or were apprehended.

Yadav received the Shaurya Chakra, an Indian military medal given for valour, intrepid deed, or self-sacrifice, by then President R Venkataraman in 1991 for saving the lives of the Sikhs.
