PM Modi Speaks With Russia's Putin, Discusses Bilateral Trade And Ukraine Situation

PM Modi and Russian President Putin exchanged ideas on how bilateral trade in agricultural goods, fertilizers and pharma products could be boosted further.  

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi had a telephonic conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday during which he reiterated India's long-standing position on the Ukraine situation, favouring diplomacy and dialogue. According to a report by news agency PTI, during their conversation, the two leaders also reviewed the implementation of the decisions taken during President Putin's visit to India in December 2021, a statement issued from the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) said.

According to the PMO statement, in particular, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Russian President Putin exchanged ideas on how bilateral trade in agricultural goods, fertilizers and pharma products could be boosted further.  

The two leaders also talked about international issues, that include the state of the international energy and food markets.

"In the context of the ongoing situation in Ukraine, Prime Minister reiterated India's long-standing position in favour of dialogue and diplomacy," the PMO statement said.

The statement further added that both the leaders agreed to maintain regular consultations on international and bilateral issues.
