Pak PM Imran Khan Praises Indian Army Amid Demands Of His Resignation

A source told IANS that Pakistani army chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa and ISI chief Lt General Nadeem Anjum adviced Khan to step down after the OIC meeting without further escalating the matter.

New Delhi: As the political turmoil in Pakistan is intensifying against Prime Minister Imran Khan, his insecurities are visible in his words as well.

On Sunday, during a public meeting, Khan said, “I salute India. India's foreign policy is better than Pakistan's, they work for their people, the Indian army is not corrupt and they never interfere in civilian govt" Imran Khan said without mentioning the name of the Pakistani army, reported new agency IANS.

The PM is facing a no-confidence motion in the Pakistan National Assembly. According to IANS report, Khan and the Pakistan military establishment are at loggerheads as the latter is suspected of supporting the opposition to oust Khan.

Khan has also been asked to resign by the military establishment.

A Pakistani observer told IANS, “The army is not neutral..it has never been. Though they claim to be neutral, it's the army who are helping the opposition against Imran Khan and Imran Khan is unable to digest this fact that his benefactors have ditched him.”

A source told IANS that Pakistani army chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa and ISI chief Lt General Nadeem Anjum adviced Khan to step down after the OIC meeting without further escalating the matter.

"While Khan complained to Bajwa about his "neutrality," the army chief is reported to have advised him to follow the Constitution and act responsibly", the source further added.

To counter the trouble Khan is facing within the assembly, he has requested the people of Pakistan to come out in large numbers and protest in front of the Pakistan National assembly on March 27, a day ahead of the no-confidence motion.

"I want all records of public attendance to be broken, to fight for the soul of Pakistan. We stand with what is right and condemn such shameless buying of politicians' souls by political mafias to protect their looted wealth," he said in his tweet.
