'No Definition Of Love Jihad In Constitution': Owaisi Tears Into BJP Over Anti-Conversion Laws

Owaisi told the media that there is no definition of “Love-Jihad” in the constitution and the saffron party is making a mockery of the constitution by passing such laws.

Hyderabad: Asaduddin Owaisi, AIMIM President, on Tuesday lashed out at Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) for implementation of the so-called "Love-Jihad" law in Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh. Owaisi told media that there is no definition of “Love-Jihad” in the constitution and the saffron party is making a mockery of constitution by making such laws. “There's no definition of ‘love jihad’ anywhere in the Constitution. BJP-ruled states are making a mockery of the Constitution through these laws... If BJP-governed states want to make a law, then they should make a law for MSP and providing employment,” Owaisi was quoted as saying by news agency ANI. "Courts have reiterated that in the Constitution of India, under Article 21, 14 and 25, no government has any role to play in the personal life of any Indian citizen...BJP is clearly indulging in violating fundamental rights of the Constitution," he added on the anti conversion law passed in the two states. Madhya Pradesh Cabinet approves Dharma Swatantrata (Religious Freedom) Ordinance The AIMIM chief’s statement comes after the Shivraj Singh Chouhan led Madhya Pradesh government on Tuesday, passed the Dharma Swatantrata (Religious Freedom) Ordinance, 2020 to deal with 'love jihad' cases in the state. Speaking of the law, MP CM told the media that the new law makes the perpetrator liable to imprisonment of up to 10 years and a fine of at least Rs one lakh.
