Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Friday jibed at the Opposition parties gathered for a key meeting in Bihar's Patna to forge unity ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections saying that all dynast parties are forging alliances to save their families. He remarked that similar attempts were made in 2019 as well but to no avail. Top leaders of Opposition parties went into a huddle in Patna to chalk out a roadmap for the formation of an anti-BJP front for next year's general elections. The meeting was hosted by Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar of the JD(U) and his deputy Tejashwi Yadav of the RJD.

"In this meeting, all dynast parties are forging alliances to save their families," Devendra Fadnavis said.

He added, "Uddhav Thackeray who used to jibe at us saying you allied with Mehbooba Mufti (in Jammu Kashmir), he is sitting beside Mehbooba Mufti to talk about forging an alliance. All parties realise that due to the work done by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in nine years, India will stand behind him firmly. So now, dynastic parties will have to try and come together to be able to give power to their families."

"They made a similar attempt in 2019 but to no avail and in 2024, they will not reap any benefits. People are with Modi ji. Under his leadership, the BJP and NDA will get re-elected will even more seats than the previous time," the BJP leader remarked.

The remarks came in a joint presser with Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya who announced that the government has decided to provide health cover of Rs 5 lakhs to 12 crore people in Maharashtra by making a combined card of Ayushman Bharat Yojana and Jyotiba Phule Arogya Yojana.

Earlier in the day, BJP leader and Union Minister Smriti Irani took a dig at JD(U) and other opposition parties, saying it was ironic that some of the leaders who witnessed the murder of democracy during the Emergency have assembled under the Congress' parasol in Patna.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah during a speech in Jammu took a dig at the mega opposition meeting by terming it a "photo session". According to the Home Minister, the Modi government will return to power for a third term with more than 300 seats again.

"Today a photo session is underway in Patna. They (opposition) want to challenge PM Modi and NDA. I want to tell them that in 2024, PM Modi will become PM by winning more than 300 seats," he remarked.
