Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday addressed a public rally in Jammu's Bhagwati Nagar area crediting the Narendra Modi government for putting Jammu and Kashmir on the path of development. He paid tributes to Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee on his death anniversary and released 'J&K - A Story of Transformation' book on the occasion. He took a dig at the mega opposition meet underway in Patna by terming it a "photo session". According to the Home Minister, the Modi government will return to power for a third term with more than 300 seats again.

"Today a photo session is underway in Patna. They (opposition) want to challenge PM Modi and NDA. I want to tell them that in 2024, PM Modi will become PM by winning more than 300 seats," he remarked, as quoted by news agency ANI.

Hitting out at the local leadership, Amit Shah asked the Abdullahs and Muftis "who is responsible for 42,000 deaths" caused by terrorism in the Kashmir Valley.

"I want to ask Abdullah and Mufti, who is responsible for 42,000 deaths? The BJP government has tightened the noose around terrorism in the Valley," he remarked, as per news agency PTI.

He also said that a new Kashmir is being built under the leadership of PM Modi. "In Jammu and Kashmir, every citizen is being given free health insurance of Rs 5 lakh," Shah highlighted.

Honoring the Founder Of Bhartiya Jana Sangh, Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee, the Home Minister said: "Today is 'Balidan divas' of Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee. The whole country knows that it is because of him that Bengal is with India today. He opposed Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir. He had said that "Ek desh mein do Vidhan, do Pradhan aur do Nishan nahi chalega (The country will not be run by two constitutions, two heads, and two symbols)."

Criticising the United Progressive Alliance (UPA), Shah claimed that PM Modi replaced the UPA government which was involved in "scams worth Rs 12 lakh crore". The Modi government needs to be re-elected in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls, he added.

"PM Modi has provided several facilities to 60 crore poor people of India who waited for 70 years," Shah said in Jammu.

He further emphasised, "Modi government can't be accused of a single corruption case while the Congress was involved in corruption of Rs 12 lakh crore."
