'One Shouldn't Blame Country For Personal Failures': PM Modi's Jibe At Congress In RS | Key Points
PM Modi took a jibe at Congress in the Rajya Sabha and said that if one is disappointed by their personal failures, one should blame the country for it.
New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi replied to the Motion of Thanks on President’s address in Rajya Sabha today. PM Modi began his speech by reading the responses made by the opposition leaders on President's address.
PM Modi's addressed firstly focused on the Coronavirus crisis the country has been battling till today. He said, Covid is a pandemic, humankind had never seen such a crisis in the last 100 years. This crisis changes its forms and creates trouble for the people, the entire country and world are fighting against it."
The Prime Minister further said, when Covid 19 began, it was being discussed what will become of India. It was also discussed what will impact on world due to India. But due to the willpower and discipline of the 130 crore people of the country, the efforts of India is being appreciated across the world."
PM Modi hails frontline workers
He also hailed the frontline workers, doctors, workers, medical staff, security personnel for risking their lives and fighting against the pandemic.
PM Modi further listed his government's initiatives during the pandemic and it was in helped different sections of the society. He said, during the first lockdown, after a lot of discussions and with a little courage, it was decided that farmers in villages be kept exempt from lockdown. It was an important decision, as a result, our farmers had bumper productivity even during a pandemic.
PM Modi appreciates the performance of sportspersons
PM hailed the performance by sportspersons in the Olympics and other sporting events during the pandemic. He said, "During this pandemic, the youth of our country made the country proud by making a mark. Our youth made a mark in the field of sports, and did not let their performance get affected due to the pandemic and brought laurels to the country."

PM Modi also targetted Congress and said that the BJP government also tried to control the inflation and they made honest efforts towards that as inflation during UPA's regime was in double digits.
PM Modi also took a jibe at Congress and said that if one is disappointed by their personal failures, one should blame the country for it.
He said, "Inflation has affected the entire world. The USA is facing its highest inflation in 40 years, and Britain in 30 years. Countries with Euro as their currency are also facing unprecedented inflation. In such a scenario, we have tried to control inflation. Between 2015-2020, the rate was between 4-5%. During the UPA, inflation was in double digits!
Today, we are the only big economy that is experiencing high growth and medium inflation."
Attacking the Congress party further, PM Modi said that a few leaders of some political parties have shown immaturity in the last 2 years which has disappointed the nation. We have seen how games have been played due to political selfishness. Campaigns were done against Indian vaccines which is disappointing.
Hitting on the Congress again, the Prime Minister said that some people need self-introspection. When an all-party meeting over Corona was held and the government was supposed to give a detailed presentation, attempts were made to speak to some political parties to convince them to not attend it. They themselves did not come and boycotted the meeting.
He said, "I would like to express my gratitude to Sharad Rao (Sharad Pawar). He said it's not a decision of UPA & he will speak to as many people as he can. He, along with TMC & other parties, attended the meeting...The crisis was on the entire humankind, still, you boycotted the meet."
PM Modi further attacked the Congress party and said India's democracy faces the biggest threat of family-based parties. The biggest loss any party faces due to this is good talent. He said that Mahatma Gandhi also wanted that Congress shouldn't rule the country and if Gandhi's wishes would have been fulfilled then the country would have been corruption free, the country's development wouldn't have stopped, women wouldn't have feared for their lives and mafias did not call themselves as rulers.
PM Modi kept training guns on Congress and further said, "Some Members asked- if there was no Congress, what would happen. I would like to say, if there was no Congress there would be no Emergency, there would be no caste politics, Sikhs would never have been massacred, the problems of Kashmiri Pandits would not have happened."
PM Modi's response in Lok Sabha
Earlier on Monday, PM Modi had replied in Lok Sabha and launched a scathing attack on Congress and other opposition parties.
PM Modi alleged that Congress was banking on its "divide and rule" policy and had become the leader of "tukde tukde gang". he Prime Minister said the Congress "crossed all limits" during the COVID pandemic and accused them of instigating and scaring innocent labourers into fleeing to their native states.
"You have committed a big sin," he added.
Without naming Rahul Gandhi, Modi seized on the Congress leader's speech in the House in which he had said that "India is described in the Constitution as a union of states and not as a nation", and cited India's first prime minister Jawaharlal Nehru's enunciation on the country's nationhood to hit out at the opposition party frequently in his nearly 100 minutes of address.
Listing out the achievements of his government, PM said that India is poised to have 100 unicorns and some of them have the potential to be multi-national companies. The Prime Minister said that policies of government have spawned the growth of unicorns.
Meanwhile, Rajya Sabha last week clocked 100 per cent productivity, with the Upper House making full use of the available time in the ongoing Budget session in the absence of any adjournments.
