Obscene Video Disrupts Calcutta High Court Live-Streaming, Formal Complaint Lodged
The Calcutta High Court authorities have contacted the agency which has been assigned the task of live-streaming the proceedings of the court.
The live-streaming at the Calcutta High Court on Monday was abruptly interrupted after obscene photos and videos were displayed in the virtual hearing. The High Court authorities have taken a serious note of the awkward incident and have lodged an official complaint against the embarassing incident with the police.
The shocking incident occured when a vacation bench of Justice Subhendu Samanta was hearing a case via Zoom call and the alleged photos and videos were displayed during the hearing of a case, the IANS reported. The incident left the court embarassed and the proceedings had to be immidiately stopped by the Calcutta High Court after the obscene videos flashed during the live-streaming of the session at YouTube.
The interruption caused by the obscene content could not be immediately rectified, and so the live-stream had to be stopped and restarted on a fresh link. The incident left many surprised and red-faced who were participating in the proceedings or were viewing the live-streaming online.
According to the report, the Calcutta High Court authorities have contacted the agency which has been assigned the task of live-streaming the proceedings of the court.
The court authorities have also lodged a formal complaint at the Hara Street Police station.
The report further cited High Court sources who have revealed that that although it is not clear how such an awkward event took place, the authorities concerned are looking at the matter quite seriously.
The proceedings of the case before the vacation bench was scheduled on Friday. But, the hearing was adjourned on Monday following the landfall of Cyclone Dana causing weather disturbances in Kolkata on Friday.
Recently, the Supreme Court's official YouTube channel was hacked to broadcast links that advertised cryptocurrency. The top court's channel was renamed “Ripple” and a video titled 'Brad Garlinghouse: Ripple Responds To The SEC's $2 Billion Fine! XRP PRICE PREDICTION' was live on the YouTube channel.
