'Now Remove Anti-Farm Laws': Rahul Gandhi's Latest Jibe As Police Remove Barricades At Farmers' Protest Site

Earlier in the day, the Delhi Police began removing the barricades and concertina wires it had put in place at the anti-farm laws protest site at Ghazipur on Delhi-Uttar Pradesh border.

New Delhi: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Friday took a jibe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government after the Delhi Police began removing barricades at the farmers’ protest site in Ghazipur and said the three “anti-agriculture” farm laws will also be withdrawn soon.

“Only showy barricades have been removed so far, soon the three anti-agriculture laws will also be withdrawn. Hail Annadata Satyagraha,” Gandhi said in a tweet in Hindi using the hashtag ‘FarmersProtest’.

Earlier in the day, the Delhi Police began removing the barricades and concertina wires it had put in place at the anti-farm laws protest site at Ghazipur on Delhi-Uttar Pradesh border.

This comes days after the Supreme Court said the farmers have a right to protest against the three new farm laws but the protesters cannot block a road indefinitely.

The border has remained blocked for almost a year now since the farmers have launched their protest in the area against the Central government’s three farm laws.

Earlier on Tuesday, a Haryana government high-powered committee held talks with the farmers over the road blockade at Delhi's Tikri border.

The panel headed by Haryana Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Rajeev Arora held talks with representatives of the Samyukt Kisan Morcha, which is spearheading the stir.

The Haryana government had last month constituted the committee to hold talks with the protesting farmers for clearing the blockade at the Tikri and Kundli-Singhu borders.

The farmers have been staging a stir for the past 11 months in Tikri, Kundli, Ghazipur and Singhu borders along the national capital besides other places demanding the ruling dispensation to withdraw the three contentious farm laws.
