Now an old building collapses in Kerala's Palakkad, many trapped under debris

The Rescue operations which is led by the district police chief, are underway. Bulldozers have been brought in to clear the rubble to help in the rescue of those trapped.

New Delhi: A three-storey building collapsed in Kerala's Palakkad town earlier on Thursday. As per the report by the Indian Express, the building was old and was situated right in the middle of Palakkad town next to the Municipal Bus Stand. There were shops in the building that sold and repaired cell-phones. Many are feared trapped under the debris. The Rescue operations which is led by the district police chief, are underway. Bulldozers have been brought in to clear the rubble to help in the rescue of those trapped. According to reports, 4-6 people have been taken to nearby hospitals, while a few others are believed to be trapped under the rubble. The preliminary reports suggest that the shifting of a pillar may have caused the collapse. A large crowd has gathered at the spot inconveniencing the rescue operations. This comes three days after a two-storey building collapsed in Madhya Pradesh's Vidisha city on Monday. Three people were reportedly injured in the same. Earlier this week, another wall at an under-construction site in Ahmedabad collapsed, damaging a car and a JCB digger. No injuries or causalities were reported in this incident.
