'Never Abused Any Woman': BJP's Kirit Somaiya Writes To Fadnavis, Seeks Probe Into Viral Video
Kirit Somaiya has Maharashtra Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis to investigate the allegations put against the former after a clip of him went viral on social media.
BJP leader Kirit Somaiya on Tuesday wrote a letter to Maharashtra Deputy CM and Home Minister Devendra Fadnavis seeking an inquiry into the authenticity of a viral video of him. Tweeting the letter, Somaiya said that the video clip was shown on a news channel claiming that he has harassed many women and many such clips are available. He added that he has never abused any women and sought an investigation into the allegations.
"A video clip of me was shown on a news channel. Claimed that I have harrassed many women & many such video clips available & complaints received against Me. I have never abused any woman. Request @Dev_Fadnavis to investigate such allegations and verify the authenticity of Videos," he tweeted.

According to an Indian Express report, the video went viral after a Marathi news channel aired it on Monday evening.
Meanwhile, the purported video drew sharp reactions from leaders of Shiv Sena (UBT) and Sharad Pawar-led NCP. The slammed the leader who claimed there exist many such videos of Somaiya and the clip aired on the news channel was just one of them. Notably, the Monsoon session of the Maharashtra government began on Monday.
Meanwhile, Maharashtra Deputy CM and Home Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced in the Legislative Council that the entire matter will be thoroughly investigated at the senior level, and no one will be spared, as per ANI. Fadnavis assured the House that if there are any complaints from the Opposition parties on the issue it, they will also be investigated and the matter will not be suppressed.
Meanwhile, in Maharashtra, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, along with MLAs from his Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) faction, on Monday met the party's president Sharad Pawar for the second consecutive day in Mumbai's YB Chavan Centre.
Speaking to reporters, Praful Patel said, "Today, Ajit Pawar, Sunil Tatkare and I met Sharad Pawar at YB Chavan Centre. We again requested him to keep NCP united, and he listened to us but did not say anything on it."
Earlier on Sunday, Ajit Pawar along with some ministers from his faction, had met Sharad Pawar which resulted in discomfort among his supporter MLAs. Hence, on Monday, Ajit Pawar and Praful Patel reached Y. B. Chavan center to meet Sharad Pawar for the second time with all the MLAs.
