J&K: 4 JeM Terrorists Hiding Inside Truck Killed In Nagrota Toll Plaza Encounter; Cops Say DDC Polls At Target

The gunfight broke out in the early hours of Thursday near Ban toll plaza. The security in the area has been tightened following the encounter, and the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway has been closed.

Nagrota Encounter: In a major accomplishment for the security forces, 4 terrorists have been wiped out in an encounter that broke out near Jammu and Kashmir’s Nagrota Toll Plaza. The four terrorists, apparently of Jaish-e-Mohammed, Pakistan, were trying to reach Srinagar in a truck. One Police Constable has also been injured in the encounter at Ban Toll Plaza. The gunfight broke out in the early hours of Thursday near Ban toll plaza. The security in the area has been tightened following the encounter, and the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway has been closed. All the four terrorists killed inside the truck they were hiding in: The four terrorists were hiding in a truck and were trying to escape to Srinagar. The security forces used UBGL (under barrel grenade launcher)to decimate the hidden terrorists, who were also firing from their end. The truck was targeted and explosion could be seen in the CCTV footage that has appeared. All the terrorists were killed by the end of 2 hour-long encounter. Plumes of smoke and high flames could be seen in the video. It is believed that the terrorists were carrying guns and explosives along with them. This form of attack is generally used by the forces to target houses which terrorists use for ambush. This was the first instance when a truck was destroyed on a highway in this manner. Jaish link of four terrorists killed in Ban Toll Plaza encounter: The four terrorists that were neutralised in the encounter at Ban toll plaza are likely from Jaish-e-Mohammed. They used old modus operandi and had recently infiltrated to the Indian side. Investigation is underway, sources have said. DDC Polls on target of terrorists: J&K Police Jammu and Kashmir DGP Dilbag Singh said that the four terrorists were from Pakistan based Jaish-e-Mohammed. He said that it is possible that a similar group may try to infiltrate again, but an alert has been issued in this regard. He said that the terrorists have been neutralized right on time as their intent was to disrupt the DDC poll process . "The truck driver is absconding, we're looking for him. It's possible that they were planning a big attack. This kind of seizure is unprecedented. It's possible that they were targeting DDC election. However, we're investigating,"Mukesh Singh, IG, Jammu Zone later added. 11 AK-47s rifles, 3 pistols, 29 grenades & other devices were recovered from them. It seems they had infiltrated with the intention of doing something big & were headed towards Kashmir valley. Operation is underway, he said. Watch Video:
