Jhanvi, was a second year student of human psychology and was a bright, compassionate and a socially responsible teen. The victim’s parents have refuted the love triangle theory surrounding the case.

“At 12:15 her friend came to pick her up for a new year’s party, my husband asked her to call him when the party would end so that he can go pick her up..At 5 am we received a call from one of the parents of Janvi's friend who was also at the party and called us to Khar police station..when we reached police station we were told to go to Bhabha hospital..she was declared dead at the hospital.”

“Police is doing a good job but we expect justice,” she said.

Mumbai Police have arrested two people name Shree Jagdhankar and Diya Padankar, and booked them under sections 302 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Police are also interrogating people who were present in the party.

Diya who was a friend of Jhanvi entered into an argument with her after the latter objected to her closeness with Shree. Apparently Jhanvi and Shree were in a relationship and as per police sources, she saw him with Diya in a compromising situation.

As per reports, evidence points at Jhanvi being beaten up on the second floor being pushed to the metal grill following which she bled.

Alcohol was consumed at the party and the police is now probing it from drugs angle as well.

Diya was Jhanvi's best friend and next door neighbor. The two had even started a baking venture together, local media reported.
