Mumbai: In a shocking instance, a case of smuggling drugs has been reported from Mumbai’s Malad area wherein a bakery delivered narcotic substances by putting them inside cakes and pastries.
Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) received information regarding this and conducted a raid over the bakery in question. This is the first case in India in which edible weed is being used for baking cake, the agency revealed.

The sources privy to the development stated that NCB got information regarding supply of drugs in the bakery. Narcotic substances were being delivered by placing them inside the cakes, pastries, and brownies to avoid any obvious suspicion. The bakery products were then delivered in high-profile areas.
NCB seized 830 grams of edible weed brownie and 160 grams of marijuana and intercepted three persons including a woman last night. The trio is being questioned, the agency said.
NCB Mumbai explored a new trend among the young generation of consuming substance through brownie weed cakes which is been mixed and baked accordingly. This is the first case in India in which the edible weed is used for baking cake, the agency said as reported by ANI.
Currently, the team is probing the matter to find out for how long has this operation been going on, who is the “mastermind” behind the same, and also the clients of this bakery who are receiving drugs in this manner.
More information regarding this case is awaited as a probe into the matter is underway.
