New Delhi: Baba ka Dhaba owner, Kanta Prasad has issued an apology to YouTuber Gaurav Wasan, the man who brought his poor condition into light and helped him survive the 2020 lockdown but collecting funds and attracting customers.

In an Instagram video that has gone viral, Prasad with folded hands has said that Gaurav Wasan was not a thief and that he never claimed that he was one. Prasad said that he was wrong to say malicious things about him, He added, “I made a mistake by saying ‘I didn’t call him but he approached us himself,’ I’d like to apologise."

Kanta Prasad shot to fame last year after a YoutTube video by Gaurav Wasan highlighting the miseries of the octagenarian couple during Covid lockdown went viral.

Eighty-year-old Kanta Prasad and his wife Badaami Devi are now back to the old Dhaba after their restaurant in south Delhi’s Malviya Nagar wasn’t successful.

Following last year’s success, Prasad had invested Rs 5 lakh to open the new restaurant and hired three workers. After a brief period of success, the footfall decreased significantly and Prasad had to shut it down. He told Hindustan Times, “The average monthly sales never crossed Rs 40,000. I had to bear all the losses. In hindsight, I feel we were wrongly advised to open a new restaurant. Of the total investment of Rs 5 lakh, we managed to recover only ₹36,000 from the sale of chairs, utensils, and cooking machines, after the restaurant shut down."

While it was Wasan who shot Prasad to fame, the relationship between them remained sour as the Baba Ka Dhaba owner accused the Youtuber of fraud and said he was not giving them the entire amount of donation.

However, Wasan had repeatedly denied the allegations and even shared his bank statements online to prove his honesty.

Now that Kanta Prasad has apologised to Gauarv Wasan, the whole matter has come to rest.
