Mumbai  Drugs Case: The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has given a response over the allegations of Maharashtra cabinet minister and senior NCP leader Nawab Malik in the Cruise drugs case.

NCB deputy DG Gyaneshwar Singh has said that the agency takes impartial action. "We work without discrimination," he said, adding that both the independent witnesses Manish Bhanushali and Kiran Gosavi were not known to the NCB before the operation.

Deputy DG Gyaneshwar Singh also stated that 14 people were brought to the NCB office on the day of the raid. Notices were issued and they were interrogated. 8 people were arrested and 6 people were released due to lack of evidence. The NCB official termed all the allegations as baseless and malicious.

He said no evidence was found against all those released. "The allegations against us are based on assumptions," he said, adding that those who have been arrested have been treated well. 

What allegations did Nawab Malik make?

NCP leader Nawab Malik made a major accusation against the NCB saying that the central agency had detained not 8 but a total of 11 people during the raid, while 3 people were later released, including a relative of a BJP leader.

Nawab Malik had said, "On the day NCP raided the cruise, NCB Zonal Director Sameer Wankhede said that we have detained 8 to 10 people. How can an accountable officer make a fake statement like this? The detained were not 8 or 10 but 11".

He demanded that the NCB reveal facts.
