Mother Dairy Hikes Milk Prices In Delhi-NCR By Rs 2 Per Litre — Check Revised Rates

The news comes just a few days after Amul and Parag Milk Foods raised their pricing by Rs 2 per litre.

New Delhi: Mother Dairy would raise milk prices in Delhi-NCR by Rs 2 per litre beginning Sunday due to an increase in procurement expenses.

The news comes just a few days after Amul and Parag Milk Foods raised their pricing by Rs 2 per litre, news agency PTI reported.

"In view of the rising procurement prices (amount paid to farmers), fuel costs and costs of packaging material, Mother Dairy is compelled to raise its liquid milk prices by Rs 2/litre in Delhi NCR with effect from March 6, 2022," the company was quoted by PTI in its report.

Full cream milk will cost Rs 59 per litre starting on Sunday, up from Rs 57 on Saturday.

Toned milk prices would climb to Rs 49 per litre, while double toned milk prices will rise to Rs 43 per litre. Cow milk prices have risen from Rs 49 per litre to Rs 51 per litre.

The price of bulk vended milk (token milk) has been hiked to Rs 46 per litre from Rs 44.

It has also increased milk prices in Haryana, Western Uttar Pradesh, and Uttarakhand by Rs 2 per litre.

Markets outside of these specific regions will be changed in stages.

Mother Dairy Milk is sold in over 100 places across the United States.

"The company has been experiencing a surge in varied input costs which have increased multifold," it said.

Since July 2021, procurement prices (the amount paid to farmers) have firmed up by roughly 8-9 per cent. Other costs have also risen.

"The surge in farm prices is only being partially passed on to the consumers, with an effective revision of only 4 per cent, which is lower than the increase witnessed in the farm prices and overall food inflation, thereby securing the interests of both the stakeholders," Mother Dairy said.

According to Mother Dairy, it allocates around 75-80 per cent of its milk sales revenue to milk procurement.

"As a responsible organization, Mother Dairy has consistently worked towards providing remunerative prices to milk producers, thereby ensuring the sustainability of dairying and availability of quality milk," the company said.

The Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF), which markets milk and milk products under the Amul brand, has announced a Rs 2 per litre increase in milk pricing beginning March 1.

Parag Milk Foods Ltd, a dairy company, has also hiked the price of its Gowardhan brand of cow milk by Rs 2 per litre, effective March 1.

GCMMF sells 150 million gallons of milk per day, with Delhi-NCR accounting for around 37 lakh litres.

Mother Dairy sells more than 30 lakh gallons per day in poly packs and vending machines in Delhi-NCR.
