Razak, previous Sarpanch Karim Yadav's nephew, was on a wedding procession in the village when the former sarpanch and his family members went to the rooftop and showered money on everybody gathered to witness the celebrations.
The video, which has now gone viral on social media sites, shows the former sarpanch and his family members pouring Rs 500 notes on those gathered to celebrate. The footage shows them showering money from the house's rooftop.
Meanwhile, in the background, the Bollywood song "Azeem-O-Shaan Shehenshah" from Jodha Akbar is playing.
While the video stunned many on social media, showering notes and jewellery on special occasions is a routine occurrence in Gujarat. In the recent past, a man in Bengaluru obstructed traffic on a flyover by throwing money at passersby and onto the crowd below in the city's bustling market area, according to media reports.
Passing cars' cell phones captured footage of a man in a coat and slacks walking on the flyover while wearing a wall clock around his neck and flinging big quantities of cash in the air.
The currency notes had a denomination of ten. According to witnesses who were present at the time of the incident, he allegedly flung Rs 3,000 notes around, Business Today reported.
