Modi In South Africa Day 3: PM To Attend BRICS Africa Outreach Session, Hold Bilateral Talks
Before departing from Johannesburg on Thursday, Modi will meet with prominent personalities and attend a luncheon hosted by South African President Cyril Ramaphosa.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will on Thursday attend BRICS Africa Outreach and BRICS Plus Dialogue on his third day of the visit to South Africa’s Johannesburg. He is also scheduled to hold bilateral talks on the final day of his visit after which he will reach Athens in Greece on August 25. On Wednesday, Modi attended the plenary session of the 15th BRICS Summit along with leaders of member nations including Brazil, Russia, China, and host South Africa.
While in Johannesburg, the PM on Wednesday joined Indians in watching a historical moment for the country as Chandrayaan-3 made its successful touchdown on the Moon’s surface.

On Wednesday, PM Modi addressed the opening plenary session of the 15th BRICS Summit praising its journey over the last two decades. He emphasised accomplishments such as the establishment of the New Development Bank, assistance to countries in the Global South, and the creation of financial safety nets through contingency reserves.
He also stressed on the role of technology in shaping BRICS societies' future readiness, calling for initiatives such as youth summits, BRICS games, and think tank councils to strengthen people-to-people connections.
PM outlined a comprehensive 5-point agenda to strengthen relationships between member nations. His proposals cover diverse fields from space exploration to conservation and cooperation in various sectors.
