Mamata Banerjee Suffers 'Major Injury': PM Modi, Odisha CM, Others Wish Bengal CM Speedy Recovery

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal, and Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik on Thursday wished Mamata Banerjee a "speedy recovery" after Trinamool Congress (TMC) announced that the West Bengal Chief Minister suffered "a major injury" to her forehead.

TMC shared photos of Banerjee on a hospital bed with a deep cut on her forehead and blood on her face. The party urged people to remember her in prayers.

She fell somewhere inside the home and was immediately shifted to the hospital. She was bleeding from the forehead and stitches were required, her brother Kartik Banerjee told a Bengali news channel.

PM Modi took to X, wishing for Mamata's "quick recovery."

"I pray for a quick recovery and the best health for Mamata Didi," he posted.

Reacting to the incident, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said, "Wishing Mamata ji strength and a very swift recovery."

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge said, "I wish best of health and complete recovery to West Bengal Chief Minister and Founder Chairperson, AITMC, Mamata Banerjee."

Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik wished Mamata a "speedy recovery".

"Deeply concerned to know that West Bengal Chief Minister suffered injury after meeting with an accident. Praying for her speedy recovery," posted Patnaik.

She was shifted from Woodburn Block at SSKM Hospital to Trauma Care Centre, in Kolkata.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, while taking to X expressed his shock. "Shocked to see this. Pray for ur speedy recovery Didi. God bless u," he said.

Shashi Tharoor, a Congress MP also took to X and said, "Shocked to see this. Wish @MamataOfficial a swift & complete recovery! @AITCofficial"

Bengal BJP President Sukanta Majumdar said, "We wish for the speedy recovery of the chief minister."

According to senior TMC leader Sukhendu Sekhar Ray, Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar enquired about the chief minister's health condition and wished her a speedy recovery.  

Congress state chief Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury also wished her a quick recovery.  

She has now left the hospital The accident took place in her home and she has been admitted at SSKM hospital in Kolkata.

According to a report in PTI, Mamata fell inside her Kalighat home in south Kolkata after she returned after attending a programme.

TMC national general secretary and Mamata's nephew Abhishek Banerjee got her admitted to the hospital, according to party sources.
