'Bengal Does Not Like Violence Nor Do I': Mamata After Being Sworn In As CM

"I will personally look into the law and order issues and make sure there's peace," Mamata Banerjee said after being appointed as CM for the third term.

Soon after the Assembly election results were announced and TMC was declared the winner incidents of violence were reported from different parts of the state.

Assuring peace in the state, TMC chief Mamata Banerjee said, that there will be no political violence as she has stepped in as Chief Minister.

"Bengal does not like violence nor do I. I will personally look into the law and order issues and make sure there's peace," Mamata Banerjee said after being appointed as CM for the third term.

West Bengal Governor Jagedeep Dhankhar, right after Mamata Banerjee took oath as Chief Minister, asked her that she will uphold the constitution values and maintain the peace in the state.

To which Mamata Banerjee promptly replied: The law and order situation was under the control of Election Commission of India for the last three months, I have just taken the oath and will make sure there's peace."

The Union home ministry on Monday sought a detailed report of the political violence.

Meanwhile, CM Mamata Banerjee said that this was just BJP acting up after being defeated and sporadic incidents of violence are common in any state post-elections.
