Navratri 2020: Mamata Banerjee Announces 'Durga Puja Gift' For Techies; Know The List Of Benefits
Employees of state-run Webel Ltd and techies of agencies will now be treated as contractual staffers of the state government.
The Mamata Banerjee-led West Bengal government is set to offer a special 'Durga Puja gift' to techies in the state. Announcing the measure Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on social media said employees of state- run Webel Ltd and techies of agencies will now be treated as contractual staffers of the state government. The chief minister mentioned that employees will get several benefits with this announcement, including job certainty till the age of 60, as per the PTI report.
"Bengal is known for its e-governance & today I'm pleased to announce my Pujo gift for young IT personnel working to improve our e-services for the people of Bengal. Webel/WTL/agency-engaged IT staff in state govt shall now be directly engaged as contractual staff of GoWB," she tweeted.
"They will also get 30 days leave & 10 days medical leave annually along with usual maternity leaves for women. They'll have tenure certainty till 60 years age & get ₹3 L on attaining 60 years as terminal benefit. Further, Swasthya Sathi will cover their medical expenses," Banerjee added.
Earlier on September 24, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has asked Durga Puja organisers to set up open-air pandals and implement Covid-19 safety protocols.
On Tuesday the chief minister said cultural programmes in the state with a maximum of 150 people will be allowed during Durga Puja. The events must be held in open spaces she said.
On the other hand, a petition has been filed in the Calcutta High Court seeking directions to prevent the Durga Puja celebrations in the state in view of the pandemic, reported news agency ANI. According to the plea, the Covid-19 situation in the state is the same as it was in Kerala after Onam.
