Maharashtra BJP leader Ravindra Bawanthade filmed kissing woman in bus, arrested for rape

BJP leader Ravindra Bawanthade allegedly forcing upon the woman.

New Delhi: A woman has accused a BJP leader in Maharashtra of raping her. The video has gone viral on social media.  Ravindra Bawanthade who went absconding after the woman filed a rape case against him was arrested on Tuesday evening. The bus driver, cleaner and helper of the bus also were arrested on Wednesday for circulating the video clip. ALSO READ - GOOD NEWS: RBI to unveil new Rs. 200 notes soon The CCTV visuals that have gone viral show Bawanthade kissing the woman in a moving bus which commenced from Nagpur to Chandrapur area of Gadchiroli district.

The incident happened in the back seat of the bus which was filled with other passengers. The woman in her complaint has alleged that the BJP leader promised her a job and assured to marry her. The BJP is in power in Maharashtra. (The story was updated at 2:45pm on July 5, 2017)
