Officials said the car is registered in the name of the minor's father, a government official. "The case has been registered against the official for allowing his underage son to drive without a driving licence," an official said.
The incident comes a week after an allegedly inebriated minor at the wheel of a Porsche hit a two-wheeler in Pune as the speeding car spun out of the driver's control. Two young tech professionals from Madhya Pradesh were killed in the accident.
The case triggered nationwide outrage amid reports that the minor's bail conditions included writing an essay, despite the gravity of the accident. The father of the teen, a major real estate businessman based in Pune, has since been arrested, among others.
