Maharashtra Congress To Prepare For Contesting On All Seats In Assembly Elections: Patole

Nana Patole announced on Saturday that the Maharashtra Congress will contest all assembly election seats while honoring seat-sharing agreements with allies.

Maharashtra Congress chief Nana Patole announced on Saturday that the party is scheduled to prepare to contest from all seats in the upcoming state assembly elections. But, he confirmed that his party will adhere to the seat-sharing agreement with its alliance partners. The elections for the 288-member Maharashtra assembly are scheduled for October.

Speaking to the media at his Nagpur residence, Patole emphasised that it won't be wrong if the party plans to contest the elections from all seats as it should have its organisational structure and work everywhere, news agency PTI reported.

"A party should have its organisational structure and work at every place. An alliance will be formed as per the seat sharing on the merits. Preparing for all seats is not wrong, and even our alliance partners are preparing the same way. We will contest the elections as Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA)," the Congress leader said, as quoted by PTI.

RJD President's Prediction On NDA

The MVA alliance includes the Shiv Sena (UBT), NCP (SP), and Congress, which collectively won 30 out of 48 seats in the Lok Sabha elections in 2024.

Reacting to the RJD president Lalu Prasad Yadav's prediction that PM Modi's government could fall next month as it is on the back foot, and one can't be assured how long the allies will stay with the NDA, Patole remarked, "Anything can happen. We can see how the government has come on the back foot after Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's speech in the Lok Sabha. We cannot say how long the NDA allies will be with them," he said, news agency PTI reported.

Patole On Maha Vikas Aghadi Victory In LS poll

Earlier on June 26, Maharashtra Congress President Nana Patole credited the "Save Constitution campaign" led by Congress MP Rahul Gandhi and the party's national president Mallikarjun Kharge as significantly contributing to the Maha Vikas Aghadi's grand victory in the recent Lok Sabha elections in the state.

"In the Lok Sabha elections in Maharashtra, the effect of the Save Constitution campaign by Congress MP Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge was that the people of Maharashtra gave a big victory to the Maha Vikas Aghadi. A meeting has been held today regarding the victory and the upcoming elections in Maharashtra," Nana Patole said, ANI reported.

Following a strong impact in the Lok Sabha elections, the Maharashtra Congress is now gearing up to make significant gains in the upcoming state assembly elections and the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections.
