J&K: Army Recovers M16 Rifles, Pistols In Arms Haul Near LOC in Baramulla
J&K: Among the recoveries were two US made MI6 Rifles, two pistols, 8 Magazines of MI6 and pistols along with huge quantities of ammunition.
Srinagar: Security forces have recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition on Thursday during a cordon and search operation in Dulanjan area of Uri in north Kashmir's Baramulla district. The captured arms include sophisticated rifles, pistols and huge quantities of ammunition. According to the Army officials they had received credible information through both Human intelligence as well as through electronic surveillance that terror handlers from POK were planning a new dumping of arms and ammunition across the Line of Control, using river Jhelum as a route. Immediately, a joint team of the army's 8RR unit and Jammu and Kashmir police launched a cordon and search operation in Dulanjan along the river Jhelum, during which huge quantities of arms and ammunition including MI 16 Rifles and pistols were recovered.”
Among the recoveries were two US made MI6 Rifles, Two pistols, 8 Magazines of MI6 and pistols along with huge quantities of ammunition. Search operation is continuing in the area, as more recoveries are being anticipated.
In the last one week, there have been several incidences where the police have held people in links with terrorist acts. Just two days back, J&K police has arrested three overground workers of Lashkar-e-Taiba in Bandipore district and recovered arms and ammunition besides incriminating materials from their possession. As per the information, the police got a tip-off two days back that some miscreants at the behest of local active terrorists of LeT hoisted Pakistani flags at the main bazaar at Hajin area with the aim to create fear psychosis and incite anti-national feelings.
The trio confessed to their involvement in the crime and said they had raised the flags to commemorate Pakistan Defence Day. On their interrogation, police recovered one hand grenade, cloth, sewing machine, and other incriminating material used in preparing flags from them.
