Lok Sabha Election: Congress Announces Election Committees For Goa, Arunachal Pradesh — See Lists

Kharge gave his approval to the proposal for the constitution of Election Committees for Goa, Arunachal Pradesh ahead of Lok Sabha elections.

In view of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge on Saturday gave his approval for the constitution of the Pradesh Election Committee of Goa and Arunachal Pradesh.

According to a statement released by Congress, Amit Patkar will be the Chairman of the Goa Pradesh Election Committee. The other members of the committee include Yuri Alemao, Girish Chodankar, Francisco Sardhina, Ramakant Khalap, Altone D'costa, Carlos Alvares Ferreira, M.K. Shaikh, Dr. Pramod Salgaonkar, and Shambhu Bandekar.

Kharge also approved the proposals regarding the constitution of the Political Affairs Committee, Manifesto Committee, and the appointment of Office Bearers and DCC President of the Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee besides the state Election Committee.

Meanwhile, the I.N.D.I.A. bloc on Saturday reached a consensus on the name of Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge for appointment as the chairperson of the opposition bloc, news agency PTI reported, citing sources.

A meeting of the bloc was held virtually on Saturday. The meeting was attended by Tamil Nadu CM & DMK leader MK Stalin, NCP chief Sharad Pawar, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal among varius other top leaders of parties of the opposition bloc to review seat sharing, participation in Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra and other issues.

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, who was also seen as a contender for the top post, declined to lead I.N.D.I.A bloc, a source told ABP News. JDU leader Sanjay Kumar Jha stated on Saturday that Nitish Kumar wanted the convenor to be from the Congress Party.

Under the umbrella of the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA), 28 opposition parties have banded up to take on the Bharatiya Janata Party and defeat it in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
