BJP To Contest On All Lok Sabha Seats In Haryana, No Discussion On Alliance With JJP

Lok Sabha Election 2024: The BJP central leadership has indicated to its Haryana unit that the party will contest all Lok Sabha seats in the state and has asked it to begin preparations for the same.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is likely to contest all 10 Lok Sabha seats in Haryana in the general election slated to take place next year, while so far there has been no discussion on aligning with Jannayak Janata Party (JJP) led by Dushyant Chautala, with which the saffron party is running a coalition government in the state. The BJP central leadership has indicated to the state unit that the party will contest all Lok Sabha seats in Haryana and has asked it to begin preparations for the same.

As the BJP's top leadership instructed its Haryana unit to prepare for contesting all Lok Sabha seats, there was no discussion about BJP's ally JJP in the meeting. The Central leadership took information about local issues from the Haryana Core Group.

This comes after Union Home Minister Amit Shah held a meeting with Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar in New Delhi in the presence of BJP chief J P Nadda on Wednesday. The meeting was also attended by party’s Haryana in-charge Biplab Kumar Deb. The meeting came against the backdrop of the BJP’s preparations for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections and state assembly polls.

On Sunday, Shah addressed a gathering in Haryana's Sirsa where he targeted the Congress over corruption, alleging scams worth Rs 12 lakh crore had taken place under the party-led UPA government at the Centre.

According to him, the current government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi is functioning in a transparent manner and even its opponents cannot accuse it of corruption, Shah said addressing a rally in Sirsa.

Targeting the erstwhile Congress dispensation in Haryana led by Bhupinder Singh Hooda, the senior BJP leader said, "It was a 3D government of darbaris (courtiers), daamad (son-in-law)...you know to who I am referring to...and dealers. Manohar Lal (Khattar) has ended all these three Ds", news agency PTI reported. He was apparently referring to Robert Vadra, the son-in-law of Congress leader Sonia Gandhi.

The BJP and JJP had entered into a post-poll alliance after the 2019 assembly elections to form the government in Haryana. The BJP, which at present has 41 MLAs after winning the Adampur bypoll last year, had secured 40 seats while the JJP had won 10 in the 90-member House. The BJP won all 10 Lok Sabha seats in the 2019 parliamentary polls.
