Leopard Found Lurking In The Streets of Hyderabad Amid Lockdown
A leopard was seen resting casually a busy road in Mailardevpally district in Hyderabad, Telangana.
New Delhi: Images from Mailardevpally district in Hyderabad, Telangana of a leopard resting casually adjacent to a median on a busy road, have surfaced recently, sending a chill down the spines of the local residents. The forest department officials were alerted as soon as the leopard was spotted.
The leopard was spotted by a motorist, according to a TOI report who immediately contacted the forest department officials. A team to tranquilize to the leopard came for the Nehru Zoological Park to capture the animal. It was, however, suspected that the feline was injured by an accident as the leopard was not moving, but it was confirmed that it wasn’t and was in fact in good health.
The leopard escaped to private farmland, officials from the forest department secured the premises to capture the feline.
A similar incident took place earlier this week when a nocturnal Indian Civet wandered into the Fateh Darwaza in the Golconda area of Hyderabad. Indian Civets are native to Asia and Africa, the residents alerted the forest officials and rescue teams were sent out at 2 am in the morning. The feline was captured within seven hours, reports said.
Ever since the lockdown started there have been many reports about wild animals finding their way into the city or residential areas coming from around the country. These animals usually stay confined to the forest areas due to the noise and don’t usually lurk into the city but now due to the sudden silence that the covered everywhere animals think it is safe and venture out in search of more territory.
