'Leave India Notice' Issued To 81 Chinese Nationals From 2019-2021: MoS Home Informs LS

MoS Home Nityanand Rai also stated that 117 persons were deported.

From 2019 to 2021, 81 Chinese nationals were issued a "Leave India Notice," while 726 others were placed on the unfavourable list for breaking visa terms and other unlawful conduct, Nityanand Rai, Minister of State for Home Affairs, told the Lok Sabha on Tuesday, news agency ANI reported.

MoS Home also stated that 117 persons were deported.

"Govt maintains records of such foreigners (including Chinese nationals) who enter with valid travel documents. Some of such foreigners overstay beyond visa period owing to ignorance or under compelling circumstances like medical emergency or other personal reasons," MoS Home informed Lok Sabha. 

"Where overstay is found to be intentional or unjustifiable, appropriate action is taken as per the Foreigners Act 1946 including issuance of Leave India Notice to the foreigner and charging penalty/visa fee," he further stated. 

5 Zonal Councils Have Been Set Up Under States Reorganization Act, 1956: Rai 

Speaking about the States Reorganization Act, 1956, Nityanand Rai said, "5 Zonal Councils, Northern, Central, Eastern, Western & Southern Zonal Council have been set up under the act."

According to the States Reorganisation Act of 1956, the Zonal Councils should be composed of a Union Minister nominated by the President.

"Chief Ministers of each of the States included in the Zone and two other Ministers of each such State to be nominated by the Governor and if there is no Council of Ministers in any such State, three members from that State to be nominated by the President," Rai further stated.
