The FIR has been lodged against Ashish Mishra along with 15-20 unnamed persons, according to the UP Police.
New Delhi: The Uttar Pradesh police have filed a First Information Report (FIR) against Ashish Mishra, son of Union Minister Ajay Mishra for allegedly running over a group of anti-farm law protesters who were demonstrating against the visit of Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya at Tikonia-Banbirpur road. The Lakhimpur violence has claimed 8 lives so far including 4 farmers.
As per the UP Police, an FIR has been registered against Ashish Mishra under Sections 302 (murder), 120-B (criminal conspiracy), 279 (rash driving), 338 (grievous hurt), 304-A (death by negligence), 147 (rioting) and 149 (unlawful assembly) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
The FIR has been lodged against Ashish Mishra along with 15-20 unnamed persons, according to the UP Police.
Farmer leaders claimed that the son of Union Minister of State for Home Ajay Mishra was in one of the cars which they said knocked down some protesters who were opposing the deputy CM's visit.
The minister rejected the claim. He said the vehicle overturned when farmers hurled stones at it.
Recently today, the Uttar Pradesh government didn't allow Congress leader Rahul Gandhi to visit Lakhimpur Kheri in wake of the recently imposed Section 144 of CrPC. Earlier, in a letter to UP Chief Minister Adityanath, the Congress Party has said that a five-member delegation plans to visit the district on Wednesday.
"Farmers are being mowed down by a jeep, they're being murdered, the name of a union minister & his son is coming up in this incident. Yesterday, PM visited Lucknow but he didn't visit Lakhimpur Kheri. It's a systematic attack on farmers," Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said.
