Kin of those killed in the 2019 Pulwama attack have been given compensation ranging from Rupees 1.56 crore to Rupees 2.94 crore, Union minister of state for home affairs Nityanand Rai told the Parliament on Wednesday. The kin of soldiers were given jobs in different sectors including lower-division government jobs in West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, and Bihar, he said. Some families made the request for jobs to the sons of the personnel after they turned 18 in the force. 


A widow of one of the troopers was given a job in the Punjab Police while another is working as a clerk at the deputy commissioner’s office in Himachal Pradesh’s Kangra, as per a Hindustan Times report.


On February 14, 2019, 40 personnel of the Central Reserve Police Force were killed when a suicide bomber drive a car laden with improvised explosive device into their convoy when it was passing through Lethpora in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama district in one of the deadliest attack on security forces in Jammu and Kashmir. 


The attacks brought India and Pakistan to the brink of war and a new standard operating procedure was laid down for the movement of the security forces.
