Thiruvananthapuram: It’s aptly said “humanity is above religion”. To add to the woes of the female patient, her relatives were not allowed to see her due to Covid-19 treatment protocols. Her health condition further deteriorated by May 17 as her organs had started to shut down. The doctors then decided to take the patient off ventilator support as there was very little that they could do at that point of point. The female patient’s family was also informed about the same.

Dr Krishnan, who provided solace to the female patient by reciting Islamic prayers, while sharing her compassionate gesture, said she was at that time thinking not as a doctor but as a human.

“With none of their relatives around her, I thought I should do something for the patient. Since I was brought up in the UAE, I knew about these prayers and practices. I gently recited this prayer and closed her eyes. As I concluded, the patient took a deep breath and then the line flattened,” she said.

The post later went viral on social media with all showering praises on Dr Krishna for her affectionate act.
