'Kejriwal Govt Doing Good Work': Sanjay Raut Praises AAP, Slams BJP Over Delhi Services Bill

Sanjay Raut on Monday heaped praises on Arvind Kejriwal led-Aam Aadmi Party government in Delhi and said that the government is doing good work in various fields.

Uddhav Thackeray Faction MP Sanjay Raut on Monday heaped praises on Arvind Kejriwal led-Aam Aadmi Party government in Delhi and said that the government is doing good work in various fields including education, health and the Bharatiya Janata Party is jealous. Raut said that the BJP had said that they will give statehood to Delhi but lost the election to Arvind Kejriwal. Raut launched a scathing attack on the BJP over the Delhi Services Bill and said that the bill is an attack on the federal structure of India.

"This bill is an attack on the federal structure of India. During the elections, they (BJP) had said that they will give statehood to Delhi but lost the election to Arvind Kejriwal. Kejriwal's govt is doing good work in various fields including education, health. They are jealous... We will oppose it in the Rajya Sabha," Raut said, as quoted by news agency ANI.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah is set to introduce the Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi (Amendment) Bill, 2023, in the Rajya Sabha on Monday. The Delhi Services Bill, which seeks to replace a May 19 Ordinance brought by the Centre regarding control of services in the national capital, was passed by Lok Sabha despite a walkout by Opposition parties on Thursday.

Speaking on the bill, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Priyanka Chaturvedi said that one thing is clear that the silent allies have joined the government now and have turned into vocal allies. She further said that no one will stand in their support when the same thing happens to them. "One thing is clear, the silent allies have joined the government now and have turned into vocal allies. No one will stand in their support when the same thing happens to them," Chaturvedi said, as quoted by PTI.

AAP MP Sanjay Singh said that even if the NCT bill is passed in the Rajya Sabha it will not survive in Supreme Court. Taking a swipe at the BJP, Singh said that the saffron party was advocating for full statehood for Delhi till 2015 and is snatching away the powers now. "Even if the (NCT) bill is passed, it will not survive in Supreme Court. I am surprised that the party (BJP) which advocated for full statehood for Delhi till 2015, is snatching away the powers (of an elected government)," Sanjay Singh said, as quoted by PTI.
