J&K: 4 Residential Houses, Govt School, Madrassa Damaged In Cross-Border Shelling In Gurez
Army sources said that Pakistani troops resorted to unprovoked motor shelling in Tarabal area last evening during which at least 4 residential houses, government high school and a madrassa got partially damaged.
Srinagar: During the overnight shelling by Pakistani Army, as many as six structures including a government school and a madrasa were partially damaged along the Line of Control (LoC) in Bagtore area of Gurez in north Kashmir's Bandipora district. Army sources said that Pakistani troops resorted to unprovoked motor shelling in Tarabal area last evening during which at least 4 residential houses, government high school and a madrassa got partially damaged.
While the roof and ceiling of government high school Tarabal got damaged, residential houses too suffered extensive damages due to shelling from across the border.
Army said that Pakistani forces violated the ceasefire along the LoC last evening and targeted forward defense locations in Tarabal area. Adding that Indian Army personnel were giving a “strong and befitting” response to the ceasefire violation.
Police said that some residential houses have been partially damaged in the shelling. However, no casualties or injury were reported during the shelling.

Meanwhile, Police on Tuesday arrested two persons “involved” in a grenade blast at Baramulla on an army convey which missed the target and exploded on the roadside in which seven civilians were injured.
Senior Superintendent of Police Baramulla Abdul Qayoom said that “During the course of the investigation, on the basis of human and technical intelligence, a joint operation was launched by 46 RR, 53 CRPF and Baramulla Police in which two suspects namely Fayaz Ahmad Kumar alias Narsimha of Khanpora Baramulla and Aqib Sharif Bhat alias DK of Syed Kareem Baramulla were detained and after sustained interrogation, they revealed that they lobbed the grenade on the insistence of (militants) of LeT outfit”.
“The aim of lobbing the grenade was to disturb order and vitiate the peaceful atmosphere in Baramulla and to motivate the youth into (militants) ranks and their sympathisers,” he said.
Fayaz, he said, has 37 FIRs registered against his name and has been detained under PSA seven times in the past. Aqib Sharif Bhat has three FIRs registered against his name, he added.
