WATCH: Woman Critically Injured By Electrocution While Helping Son Board School Bus In Kalburgi
The situation was brought under control in Kalburgi, Karnataka when bystanders urged the bus driver to move the vehicle forward breaking contact with the hanging electric cable.
A 34-year-old woman suffered severe injuries by electrocution while assisting her son, a person with a disability, to board a school bus in Kalburgi, Karnataka. The incident caught on CCTV, occurred on Monday morning, and left the woman, Bhagyashree, in critical condition. In the incident, her son is reported to be out of danger.
The CCTV footage shows Bhagyashree waiting with her son at a bus stop. As the school bus arrived at 9:21 AM, she approached it with her son. Moments later, she collapsed as sparks emitted from her body. The disturbing visuals captured bystanders attempting to help but retreating as powerful sparks continued to erupt, according to a report on NDTV. One man, who tried to approach her, stepped back after a massive spark.

The situation was brought under control when bystanders urged the bus driver to move the vehicle forward, breaking contact with the hanging electric cable. Bhagyashree and her son were immediately rushed to a hospital. The woman suffered injuries to her hand and stomach.
Preliminary police investigations revealed that the electrocution occurred due to a live electric cable hanging near the bus stop. When the bus arrived, the cable came into contact with the vehicle, electrifying it. Bhagyashree reportedly received the shock when she touched the bus.
Meanwhile, the 11 students who were occupying the bus escaped unharmed.
The incident comes just days after a 14-year-old boy died of electrocution in Kalburgi on December 13.
