New Delhi: Supreme Court on Thursday declined to urgently list a plea seeking transfer of petitions filed on hijab issue from Karnataka High Court to the apex court.
The top court further said that Karnataka High Court is getting the matter on Thursday, asks why it should interfere at this stage. It refuses to give any specific date.

It was decided that the Karnataka high court will hear the petitions questioning the ban on the wearing of hijabs by students in colleges. The plea would be heard by a three-judge bench headed by Chief Justice Ritu Raj Awasthi. The two others are Justice Krishna S Dixit and Justice Jaibunnisa M Khazi, reports India.com.
Meanwhile, on Wednesday the single bench of Justice Krishna Dixit of the Karnataka High Court on Wednesday referred petitions challenging the ban on hijab in pre-university colleges to a three-judge bench, including himself.
"In view of the enormity of questions of importance which were debated, the court is of the considered opinion that the Chief Justice should decide if a larger bench can be constituted in the subject matter," news agency PTI quoted Justice Dixit.
