New Delhi: Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) MPs on Thursday staged a walkout from Rajya Sabha in protest to accept their Privilege Motion against PM Modi.
Earlier in the day, the TRS parliamentarians have moved Privilege Motion against PM Modi for his remarks on the passing of the Andhra Pradesh Reorganization Bill on Tuesday (February 8).
The TRS MPs went on to protest in the Well of the Rajya Sabha against remarks made by PM Modi.
On Wednesday, state-wide rallies and protests in Telangana were taken out by the TRS and Congress leaders and they have also burnt PM Modi's effigies for his remarks against the formation of Telangana state. Several leaders demanded Modi's apology to the people of Telangana for hurting their sentiments.
Expressing his anguish after PM Modi's remarks, Telangana Minister tweeted, "Utterly disgraceful of you Mr. Prime Minister repeatedly insulting the decades of spirited struggle & sacrifices of the people of Telangana. I strongly condemn the absurd comments of PM & demand that he apologise to the people of Telangana."
In Rajya Sabha, PM Modi on Tuesday made remarks about the formation of Telangana that the "unscientific" bifurcation of erstwhile Andhra Pradesh to form Telangana by the UPA government in 2014, reports Hindusthan Times.
