Karnataka RSS Workers Send Khakhi Shorts To Cong Office After Siddaramaiah Calls Them 'Non-Secular'

Karnataka CM Basavaraj Bommai said the Congress leader should talk about the development & future of the state as Karnataka people are looking into all these things

New Delhi: BJP Karnataka Congress leader Siddaramaiah on Tuesday called RSS a 'non-secular organisation' while responding to the controversy over khaki shorts. Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) workers in Karnataka's Mandya district on Tuesday collected shorts and knickers from houses and sent them to the Congress headquarters in Bengaluru to protest against Siddaramaiah’s remarks on RSS Khaki shorts.

"I'm telling you from the beginning that RSS is a non-secular org. Has a Dalit, OBC, or a member from minority communities ever become Sarsanghchalak?,” Siddaramaiah was quoted by news agency ANI.

On the other hand, Karnataka CM Basavaraj Bommai said, “The Congress leader doesn't have any other subject, so he is talking about such things. People of Karnataka looking into all these things. He should talk about the development & future of the state.”

RSS workers of the KR Pet unit in Mandya district sent a parcel containing shorts to the Congress headquarters in Bengaluru. The workers moved door to door collecting used shorts for the purpose. The RSS workers claimed that the opposition leader won't be able to burn the huge number of khaki shorts that will be sent to him, reported news agency IANS. The workers went door to door in the villages and collected used shorts and knickers.

Activists of the NSUI had burnt khaki shorts in front of the residence of education minister BC Nagesh to protest against the revision of the syllabus for school students. The ruling BJP had strongly condemned the incident and arrested 15 persons in this connection. Later, the Congress state unit began burning khaki shorts, slamming the ruling BJP for bending before the RSS in its policies and programmes.

The campaign by the RSS is likely to be taken up by workers all over the state, according to agency sources.
