Kargil Police Lodges FIR Against Two Persons Including LAHDC-Kargil Councillor

The conversation contains contents which are prejudicial to the regional/religious peace and tranquillity, spreading rumours and also seditious in nature.

Ladakh: Kargil Police have registered a First Information Report (FIR) against a sitting Councillor of Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC), Kargil, here, after they received reliable information that an audio clip is viral, containing incriminating contents, on various social media platforms. The conversation is between a sitting LAHDC-Kargil Councillor, Zakir Hussain with one of his known person. The conversation contains contents which are prejudicial to the regional/religious peace and tranquillity, spreading rumours and also seditious in nature. On this, Police Station Kargil after conducting preliminary enquiry registered an FIR No 34/2020 under relevant provisions of the penal law, following appropriate procedural formalities. Further investigation in the matter is on. Kargil Police, who have been appealing social media users to desist from uploading incriminating contents on social media plate forms, has once again advised people to refrain from indulging in acts prejudicial to peace, tranquillity and national security. Meanwhile, Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council Chairman, Feroz Khan while confirming the incident said that Zakir Hussain has been suspended from the post of the Chief Spokesman of the LAHDC (K) with immediate effect while a show-cause notice has been issued to him to explain his position.  Further action against him will be taken as per mandate by the District Development Commissioner as per rules of the council.
